Hino South Africa has received two international awards from Hino Motors Limited (HML) in Japan, reinforcing its reputation for customer service and parts support.

The awards, which recognise performance during 2025, were announced at a recent global distributor conference in Japan. Hino South Africa received an Excellence Award in the Service Distributor of the Year category and was named Distributor of the Year in the Parts Distributor category.

It marks the 13th time in the past 14 years that Hino South Africa has received these accolades.

The awards are based on performance criteria established by HML, with distributors required to achieve a minimum annual score of 80%. Performance is assessed monthly.

Criteria for the service award include customer experience ratings, workshop throughput and the profitability of both Hino South Africa and its dealer network. The parts award considers customer satisfaction, first-time parts availability, stockholding levels and the ability of Hino South Africa and its dealers to provide emergency parts support.

The awards form part of Hino's global programme to recognise distributors that consistently deliver strong results while adhering to the company's Total Support philosophy.

The strategy focuses on maximising vehicle uptime, reducing the total cost of ownership, ensuring repairs are completed the first time correctly and maintaining high parts availability at competitive prices.

The international recognition is supported by strong local performance.

Hino South Africa has consistently performed well in the quarterly Datatrack customer care survey, which measures customer satisfaction across 13 truck brands operating in South Africa.

"We at Hino South Africa are very proud of our ongoing strong performance in the Datatrack quarterly customer care survey," said Anton Falck, vice-president of Hino South Africa.

"We again ranked first in the first quarter of 2026 in the combined sales, service and parts category with a score of 99.69, well above the national average of 95.76."

According to the company, this was the 12th consecutive quarter, dating back to the first quarter of 2023, that Hino has occupied the top position in the rankings.

The survey is based on feedback from approximately 30 000 truck operators and has been conducted for 38 years.

Falck said the latest international awards reflected the commitment of the company's employees, dealer network and business partners.

"These awards are a testament to the dedication of our dealer network, employees and partners, who continually strive to deliver exceptional value to customers in sales, service and parts support," he said.

"We remain committed to strengthening our Total Support offering and ensuring that Hino customers continue to benefit from world-class service and parts availability."
