Air connectivity improves as FlyAngola lands in Namibia

The skies between Namibia and Angola have just opened up wider, with FlyAngola launching scheduled air services poised to significantly boost trade and the movement of people. According to Leonard Shipuata, executive for airport operations at the Namibia Airports Company (NAC) and a member of the Air Connect project, this new connection marks a pivotal moment for both nations. FlyAngola's recent entry into Namibia now links Windhoek with the key Angolan cities of Benguela, Luanda, and Lubango.Shipuata made the remarks following the carrier’s entry into Namibia recently, connecting Windhoek to the coastal cities of Benguela and Luanda, as well as Lubango. “FlyAngola’s new route represents a vital link that enhances the movement of people, trade, and ideas. For Namibia, it opens doors to expanded tourism, investment, and market access, while reinforcing our deep cultural and economic ties with Angola,” Shipuata said of the launch of the carrier’s services into Namibia. Air Connect Namibia said its mandate was to create an environment where airlines keen to launch services to Namibia could successfully operate, Shipuata said. “At Air Connect Namibia, we are committed to advancing air service development in support of national economic objectives. Our mandate is to create and support an enabling environment where airlines such as FlyAngola can succeed and prosper,” he said. “Therefore, we are proud to support FlyAngola’s entry into the Namibian market, working closely with all stakeholders to ensure that this route is not only sustainable but positioned for long-term growth,” he added. According to Shipuata, it was the hope of Air Connect Namibia that travellers would make use of FlyAngola’s services when travelling between Namibia and Angola. “It is our aspiration that every passenger travelling on this route, whether for leisure or business, contributes meaningfully to the prosperity of our people and the advancement of our economies,” Shipuata said. Air Connect would throw its support behind FlyAngola to ensure that the routes it operates on would be a success and lead to the further development of opportunities, Shipuata said. “This initiative’s success depends on all of us. As leaders in travel, tourism, and trade, your role is of utmost importance - whether through the development of compelling travel packages, the promotion of business opportunities, or the advocacy for regional cooperation, your contributions will be instrumental in ensuring the viability and vibrancy of this service.
