MX code seeks its own independence

The third leg of the 2026 Namibian national motocross championship series will be hosted this coming Saturday at the Gallina Motocross Park, on the northern outskirts of Windhoek.

The first and second legs were held at Gallina and Gobabis respectively in February and March 2026.

However, to this date MX has always been part of the Namibian Enduro Club.

But with concerns raised within the MX fraternity, it was decided by all parties involved that the Windhoek Motocross Club (WMXC) will be established in 2026.

There is no tension or bad blood between Namibian MX and the Namibian Enduro Club, but it makes sense that MX should be an independently-run sport code on its own legs.

Namibia MX said: “Following several discussions between organizers, riders and parents, we have come to the conclusion that it is time for motocross in Windhoek to operate under its own dedicated club structure.

“The aim is simple – to create a better platform for our motocross riders where they can share suggestions, raise concerns, attend AGM’s and be part of decision-making. With all that in place it will help shape the future of motocross in Windhoek.

“With this in mind, we will be establishing the Windhoek Motocross Club (WMXC). The concept remains the same, just now under a structure that is focused specifically on motocross.”

What about membership?

“All current motocross riders will be transferred from the Enduro Club to WMXC.

“No additional fees will apply — your current membership will remain valid. Riders who participate in both motocross and enduro may choose which club they would like to belong to. Please just let us know about your preference so we can update our records accordingly.”

Maike Bochert, Zoë Waldschmidt and Sanene Wittreich are MX riders that also participate in Enduro events.

What is important?

“This change is purely structural and aimed at the growth and development of MX in Windhoek. It does not mean there is any division between Enduro and Motocross — we remain one motorsport community, working together.

“Further details regarding the AGM (date, time, and venue) will be shared.

“We look forward to building this next chapter together and giving our motocross riders the platform they deserve.”

When is the AGM?

The founding Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Windhoek Motocross Club will be held on Thursday 21 May 2026 at 18:30 via a virtual meeting.

The positions of the Chairperson, Vice-chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer are up for elections.

Nominations along with the nominees’ motorsport CV’s must be forwarded to the Secretary by no later than the close of business on Monday 11 May 2026. No late nominations will be accepted.

Pursuant to Article 26.1 of the WMXC Constitution, amendments to the WMXC Statutes (Constitution) are to be submitted in writing to the Secretary no later than the closing of business on 11 May 2026.

All relevant documents for the AGM will be circulated to all members 30 days before the AGM.
