Theofelus announces million-dollar projects

Information, communication and technology minister Emma Theofelus yesterday announced that government has availed funds for various projects under her ministry.

During a stakeholder engagement, she highlighted the universal access service initiative as one of these projects, adding: “It aims to roll out 30 radio access network towers at an estimated cost of N$110 million for three years”.

This initiative aims to bridge the digital divide in unserved and under-served areas of the country, she said.

Further, N$20 million has been allocated for the establishment of the Namibia Cybersecurity Incidence Response Team under the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN), and N$ 1.5 million for the implementation of a 5G strategy.
