FNB, RMB name new CEOs
Leadership changes were announced today at two of Namibia’s leading financial institutions, FNB Namibia and RMB Namibia, both part of the FirstRand Namibia Group.
Philip Chapman, formerly CEO of RMB Namibia, has been appointed CEO of FNB Commercial. With an extensive career in corporate and investment banking, Chapman brings significant sector expertise and a proven leadership record, having overseen strong growth and performance during his tenure at RMB.
His experience in building high-performance teams and driving strategic transformation positions him to strengthen FNB’s Commercial division and reinforce its market leadership.
Daniel Motinga succeeds Chapman as CEO of RMB Namibia. A seasoned banking executive with nearly two decades of experience in commercial and investment banking, Motinga has worked across advisory, transactional and lending activities.
Most recently, he led the Client Segment business unit at RMB Namibia, where he was responsible for segment strategy, strategic client engagement, and major deal origination. His regional insight and client-focused approach are expected to enhance RMB’s competitive standing in Namibia and the broader African market.
Chapman said his career has been rooted in corporate and investment banking, working with some of the region’s largest corporates and institutional investors. “As I step into the role at FNB Commercial, I look forward to supporting Namibia’s commercial clients with integrated financial solutions that enable sustainable growth locally and across borders,” he said.
Motinga said he is honoured to lead a franchise that continues to deliver world-class solutions in its home market and beyond.
The appointments underscore FirstRand Namibia’s focus on succession planning and the strength of its internal talent pipeline. Group CEO Conrad Dempsey said the decisions reflect a deliberate emphasis on continuity, expertise, and leadership depth across the organisation.
“They are well-positioned to guide FNB Commercial and RMB Namibia into Namibia’s next chapter,” Dempsey said.
