Young children scramble to survive

ABANDONED: Young children from neighbouring Angola continue to roam the streets in northern towns, selling wooden wares in order to survive. While the authorities are yet to address the matter, the children loiter in the streets, especially in Oshakati, where they approach people, asking if they are interested in buying their wares.

If people decline to buy a product, the kids often beg for change, saying they need money to buy a loaf of bread.

In 2022, Namibian Sun published articles on this issue, reporting that the children fled their country of origin to Namibia for greener pastures.
