Women in Media share hope

News in short
Elizabeth //Kheibes
The Women in Media (WiM) organisation – founded in 2021 by journalists Jemima Beukes and Limba Mupetami - on Monday handed over school uniforms, stationery, sanitary products and toiletries to the Tsumkwe community.

They also held a welcoming braai for Tsumkwe Secondary School learners living in the hostel.

The outreach - supported by Rössing Uranium, Pupkewitz Motors, Agra Staff Initiative Fund, Multichoice Namibia, Sanjay Korteweg from Core Communications, the National Youth Council and the Uranium One Group - is one of three WiM objectives, including mentorship and empowerment initiatives.

During the event, the organisation held motivational chats with learners and assisted San learners, whose parents are illiterate, with filling in forms. The group also engaged the school’s management on factors that drive San learners out of school.
