The second annual NTV Awards took place at the National Theatre of Namibia on Thursday to celebrate the country’s leading television presenters and programmes.



The awards ceremony was hosted by award-winning NTV presenter Diana Master and was broadcast live on DStv channel 285, GOtv channel 25, ONEUPTWO.COM and Network Media Hub’s (NMH) YouTube channel.



Republikein news editor Henriette Lamprecht and co-presenter Jo-Maré Duddy’s popular programme Uitspeel was crowned lifestyle programme of the year.



This year, the awards introduced the prestigious Dr. Sam Nujoma Media Patron Award to honour individuals who promote the values of integrity, courage and commitment to media freedom. Ernst Venzke was recognised for his long-standing contribution to the media landscape. The deputy chairperson of the Sam Nujoma Foundation, Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana, presented the trophy.



The Evening Review talk show walked away with the coveted programme of the year award.



Presenter Toivo Ndjebela, who nis also editor-in-chief of Namibian Sun, said the programme provides a platform for public debate.



“The Evening Review is now a household name thanks to the incredible support from our audience.”Ndjebela’s other talk show, The Agenda, also won the best current affairs show award, before he personally was crowned overall presenter of the year. Brian Munango won sports presenter of the year and singer Miss Gideon was declared entertainment programme Tjil’s personality of the year.



Other programme winners were Gooi Kole for sport and Generation C for MyZone programme of the year.
