Three nabbed for attempting to smuggle cannabis into police cells
Three people were arrested in Katima Mulilo on Sunday after allegedly attempting to smuggle cannabis hidden beneath buckets of food into police holding cells during visiting hours. According to Zambezi Regional Commander Commissioner Julia Sakuwa-Neo, the food was intended for inmates being held at the police cells. Police intercepted the suspects before the food reached the detainees and also confiscated a smartphone, a charger and 220 loose cigarettes during the operation. The suspects are a 60-year-old Namibian woman, a 33-year-old Zambian woman and a 17-year-old Namibian boy. The trio is expected to appear in court on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.
