SHORT - Zambezi governor calls for year-round support of bream expo
Zambezi governor Dorothy Kabula, the first woman to lead the region, officially opened the 8th Annual Zambezi Bream and Cultural Expo in Katima Mulilo this week with a call to strengthen partnerships that drive economic growth.
Kabula said the festival is more than just a celebration—it reflects the region’s identity, culture, and values.
“We are here to honour the Zambezi bream, a fish that connects our culture, our economy, and our way of life,” she said.
Anchored in the life of the Zambezi River, the event brings together music, dance, food, and enterprise—serving as a bridge between tradition and development.
Kabula commended the Katima Mulilo Town Council and other stakeholders for sustaining what has become a growing tradition and called for continued support from businesses and development partners.
“This festival must not only bring joy but also create meaningful opportunities, especially for youth, women, and small businesses,” she said.
She urged the region to rally behind local economic development and transform the expo into a national platform for change.
“Let us grow this platform, year after year, and proudly share the Zambezi story with the world,” Kabula concluded.
