Shind Investment empowers Kavango learners

The education ministry's Kavango East Regional office has received a N$23 700 donation from Shind Investment CC, a local company owned by businessman Raphael Shindimba, for the development of Ndiyona Circuit.

The contribution, handed over last Thursday, marks the second such donation by the company towards the circuit’s development.

Shindimba said the support will continue annually as part of his commitment to plough back into the community.

Ndiyona Circuit education inspector Pontianus Kamunima praised the gesture, saying it reflects the importance of partnerships between the education ministry and the business community.

“As a ministry, we are always told to engage with the community, because education cannot succeed without helping hands,” Kamunima said.

Brighter futures

Kamunima explained that Shindimba has a history of supporting learners through donations of school uniforms, stationery, sports equipment and other essentials.

“This specific support is directed at sports. We realise that sometimes learners drop out, but when we involve them in extramural activities, they are encouraged to stay in school,” he added.

Kamunima stressed that sports not only keep learners engaged but can also open career opportunities.

“Not all learners are academically strong, but through sport, some can succeed. We see today that local clubs are paying players, and learners also aspire to become professional athletes,” he said.

He noted that the Ndiyona Circuit tournament, made possible by Shind Investment, has grown to involve schools across the area, with learners eagerly participating each year.

Shindimba, who hails from the area, first sponsored the tournament in 2022 and has since pledged to make it an annual tradition.

“Mr Shindimba is ploughing back to motivate learners, and his efforts show the value of community support in education,” Kamunima said.
