The Rundu Annual Trade Fair is scheduled to take place from 24 October to 1 November at the Trade Fair Centre, with local officials aiming to establish the event as the economic heartbeat of Kavango East.

During the Mayoral Business Forum held last week, governor Hamunyera Hambyuka described the fair as “not just a fair, it is the single best event of the year.”

He highlighted that with collaboration and innovation, the trade fair can grow into one of Namibia’s leading platforms for business, culture and investment.

In addition to the trade fair, a gala dinner and fundraising event is set for 27 September. Last year, organisers raised over N$900 000, and this year they are pushing to generate even more to support regional economic growth and enterprise development.

“The strength of our economy lies in unity, compliance and innovation,” Hambyuka said.

“Let us seize this forum to learn, share and build stronger enterprises for the benefit of our town of Rundu, the capital of Kavango East. As your governor, I reaffirm my commitment to support the Rundu Town Council, entrepreneurs and the broader business community,” he added.

Working together

Organised by the Rundu Town Council, the Mayoral Business Forum serves as a platform for the local business community and stakeholders to explore opportunities for growth and partnerships.

Apart from presentations from various institutions, the council also awarded certificates to last year’s trade fair sponsors, recognising their valuable contributions.

The 2024 sponsorship list demonstrated a strong mix of monetary and in-kind support. Sponsors included the Office of the Governor, Kavango Regional Council, Old Mutual, AM Ludgres, Demshi Investment, Agribank, Coca-Cola, Bank Windhoek, 065 Lifestyle Group, NBC, FNB, Chico, Standard Bank, ReconAfrica, Tjatjara and OK Foods. Contributions ranged from N$10 000 to N$150 000, reflecting strong cooperation between public and private stakeholders.
