Praise and worship set for 19 October

Pentecostal Assemblies of Namibia will host an interdenominational Praise and Worship Conference on 19 October, bringing together worship ministers, artists and believers for a day focused on music, worship and spiritual growth. The event will take place at the Pentecostal Assemblies of Namibia from 10:00 to 16:30, followed by a music concert at 18:00. Entrance is free, with refreshments, books and CDs available for sale.Organiser and guest speaker Yvonne Hangara, also known as Minister Yvonne, said the conference aims to equip music ministers, particularly young ministers, while creating an opportunity for worshippers to learn from one another and share their experiences. She said bringing different churches together is important because it allows them “to learn from each other’s experiences” and “to equip each other”.Hangara said the organisers are trusting the gathering will bring “revival, upliftment, restoration in the presence of God”.Guest speaker Charity Mbachuma, also known as Minister Charity, is a worship minister from Zambia who has served for almost 10 years under Jesus Anointed Ministry with Pastor Kaunda in Lusaka.“The journey has been an awesome experience. It has really brought me to a place where this ministry plays a major role in the body of Christ,” she said. For Mbachuma, music has the ability to connect people.“Music transcends beyond culture, tradition, tribe and race. It carries hope, love and unity in communities,” she said, describing music as “a universal language that reaches different cultures and that brings peace and unity in communities”.A day of worshipWindhoek gospel artist Minister Pride Mafukidze has been part of the gospel music scene for more than 20 years. The son of a pastor, Mafukidze found his musical footing in church, playing keyboard, drums and bass guitar before taking up singing more seriously at around 13 or 14.He entered the professional recording scene in 2016, assisting his sister, Maranatha Goro, with her album by writing songs and featuring on the project. His second live project, Revival Now, was released in July 2025, with the single Revival winning Best Worship Song of the Year at the Omolunga Gospel Awards.Mafukidze has also ministered in Namibia and outside the country, including Angola, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia.Mafukidze said he is excited to be part of the event and encouraged worshippers from different churches to attend.“We’re going to be teaching the word, we’re going to be worshipping, we’re going to be learning what worship really all about is," he said.
