Otjozondjupa governor John Julius //Khamuseb on Sunday pledged to address Okahandja residents’ grievances and ensure transparency in local administration.Speaking during a public meeting with residents, //Khamuseb emphasised that any action leaving citizens dissatisfied “will not be tolerated”.

Haindere Paulus, a community activist, urged municipal officials to be accountable, stating: “We cannot have an administration that does not respect its citizens. Everyone in this municipality is there because there is a town with people in it, which gives them a job and a salary every time,” adding that they should be thankful

Residents raised concerns about the municipal town planner, RedForce, pensioners’ municipal bills, unemployment and the alleged mismanagement of municipal funds. The governor vowed a careful review of all complaints and called for clarity from authorities.

“After grievances are submitted, we want names and details. If people are disadvantaged or ignored by town planning decisions, we want answers in black and white,” he said.

The governor reassured residents that he would raise their concerns with the relevant authorities to obtain answers, stressing that accountability would be pursued through legal channels.

Residents, meanwhile, urged //Khamuseb to pay greater attention to Okahandja and not neglect the town as it seeks to reclaim its former ‘Garden Town’ title.
