Oshana governor Hofni Iipinge launched a clean-up campaign at Oshakati on Saturday as part of a national initiative themed "Namibia: Healthy and Clean".

The campaign, spearheaded by the environment ministry, aims to promote environmental responsibility, improve waste management practices and foster a culture of cleanliness.

Iipinge said the initiative is about more than just picking up litter but also about instilling national pride, discipline and a collective determination to maintain a clean, safe and healthy Namibia for present and future generations.

“A clean environment reflects who we are as people. Each one of us has a role to play – whether at home, in schools, workplaces, villages or towns,” he said.

The governor commended the ministry for leading the campaign while also thanking business partners, community members and other stakeholders for supporting efforts to protect the environment.

He urged Oshakati residents and Namibians to view a litter-free environment as a daily commitment rather than a one-day event.

“Let this campaign inspire us to make environmental care a way of life,” he said.

Oshakati mayor Leonard Hango said the campaign forms part of national efforts to ensure Namibia remains clean, healthy and beautiful.

Hango encouraged residents to incorporate the campaign\'s objectives in their daily lives in order to “promote cleanliness, health and environmental sustainability”.
