Ondangwa formalises Onguta
The Ondangwa town council is currently registering residents of Extension 28, known as Onguta, to list their homes and obtain title deeds as a way of formalising the area.
Spokesperson Petrina Shitalangaho-Mutikisha said in the past, Onguta consisted of houses that were congested, while some were built on the road, which was not ideal for the growing town.
She said this has now become a thing of the past after Onguta was surveyed, registered and has now been gazetted.
Onguta has a total of 367 erven for different land use, she added.
Of those figures, 178 erven are already serviced and occupied, 131 are residential plots and 51 are business zoned, while seven public open spaces will be made available upon completion of the construction of services, Shitalangaho-Mutikisha said.
During the 2021/22 financial year, the council has set aside N$7.5 million for the construction of sewer and water reticulation in Onguta.
"The site handover for the construction of these services was done on 11 March and the work is expected to be completed within eight months," she said.
More development
According to Shitalangaho-Mutikisha, this is not the only extension the council has developed. "In the space of three years, council has serviced 321 erven in Extension 24 and Extension 25, and 400 erven in Extension 26 will be allocated soon to those who applied with the council," she said.
She added that council has also planned Onantsi Proper and Onantsi, which accommodate around 524 households, and have been serviced with gravel roads, water and electricity.
