Ondangwa connects 160 plots with sewage services

Tuyeimo Haidula
On Monday, the Ondangwa town council announced the connection of a total of 160 plots at Onguta to a new sewer pump station.

The project, which cost N$7.5 million, was completed in June of this year.

Ondangwa spokesperson Petrina Shitalangaho-Mutikisha said council is hard at work to improve the living conditions of its residents, and in line with this, council recently provided clean water and sewer services to 178 ervens.

"A total of 102 ervens in the same area have partial services for water, sewer and electricity," Shitalangaho-Mutikisha said.

Development progress

She also took the opportunity to announce that council plans to upgrade the road at Oluno Extension 1 to a bitumen standard.

The project is expected to cost close to N$2 million.

According to Shitalangaho-Mutikisha, this also includes the construction of an earth channel for a distance of 1.3 km.

Speaking during the official ground-breaking ceremony on Monday, Ondangwa chief executive officer (CEO) Ismael Namugongo said the town is experiencing growth.

Namugongo said the development projects are aimed at ensuring the area is an attractive place for visitors and residents.

He said while challenges remain in areas like Oluno, the council has committed to upgrading the structures and making services available for residents.

"Roads, sewers, and water are some of the main challenges faced in the town's old settlements," Namugongo said.

Try Harder Construction CC has been appointed for the road upgrade work, while Wana Engineering were appointed as the consultants.
