N$2.4m to boost HIV support in Kavango East

During his state of the region address yesterday, Kavango East governor Hamunyera Hambyuka announced that N$2.4 million has been allocated to strengthen HIV testing and counselling for private patients at Divundu, Karukuta village and Kaisosi settlement.
The governor also highlighted the opening of a new health post at Likwaterera, the installation of water tanks at several clinics and the expansion of dental outreach services across health and correctional facilities. The region continues to train newly graduated pharmacists at Rundu Intermediate Hospital, and four new dentists have been deployed, he said.
Additionally, three ambulances were donated to the region by central government, while IntraHealth and CDC supported the construction of a prefabricated clinic at Biro.
