Kalistu Ramos Mukoroli, director of MTC Windhoek Fashion Week, is representing Namibia at the BRICS+ Fashion Summit in Russia this week, a leading international platform shaping the future of the global fashion industry.

The event, which started on 28 August in Moscow and ends on 30 August, brings together leaders from fashion associations, textile and manufacturing companies, industry experts, designers and buyers from more than 60 countries.

Over the past three years, the BRICS+ Fashion Summit has highlighted emerging fashion industries from more than 90 countries, against the backdrop of Moscow’s rapidly growing fashion sector.

From Namibia, Brazil and Ecuador to the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, South Africa, India and China, the summit fosters collaboration across regions, creating fresh growth opportunities and strengthening global alliances.

A multicultural fashion

community

Moscow is increasingly positioning itself as both a hub of creative energy and a key player on the world fashion stage.

This year’s business programme focuses on major themes including sustainable production, creativity and innovation, professional education, expanding international trade relations, and the challenges facing BRICS nations and the wider global community.

Mukoroli will share his insights as a panellist in the session ‘Power of Positioning: Brand Evolution - From Logo to Culture’. He will also moderate a discussion on market access, exploring how brands can successfully expand and thrive in new markets.

His participation underscores the summit’s aim of building long-term cooperation, encouraging cultural exchange, and elevating emerging brands from developing regions for the second year running.

“The BRICS+ Fashion Summit is a vital communication platform for emerging countries, providing direct access to global industry networks, media visibility, and opportunities for strategic partnerships. It goes beyond being a fashion showcase; it’s a space where countries can share their cultural narratives, tackle industry challenges, and define their place in the global fashion ecosystem,” said Mukoroli.

Running alongside the summit is the Moscow Fashion Week, from 28 August to 2 September. The event showcases Russian designers alongside brands from ten countries, including Brazil, South Africa, China, India and Spain. The diverse line-up reflects the rise of a new multicultural fashion community at the heart of Russia.
