Miss NGO Namibia opens 2027 applications

Miss NGO Namibia has opened applications for its next titleholder, beginning the search for the young Namibian woman who will represent the country at the 74th Miss World Festival in Tanzania in 2027.

The announcement follows Namibia’s participation at the 73rd Miss World Festival in Vietnam, where 20-year-old software development student Elly Penomwene Aron from Ohangwena represented the country as Miss World Namibia after being crowned Miss NGO Namibia.

The 73rd Miss World Festival concluded in Vietnam on 5 September, with Joheirry Mola of the Dominican Republic crowned Miss World 2026. Mola, an educator, journalist and community advocate, was among 111 national representatives who took part in the festival.

Now, Miss NGO Namibia is looking for the next young woman to carry Namibia’s flag onto the international stage.

Authentic heart

Speaking on behalf of the organisation, the Office of the National Director encouraged young Namibian women who believe they have the potential to represent the country to put themselves forward.

“This is your time. Enter and give yourself the opportunity to represent the country,” Miss NGO Namibia said.

The organisation said the selection process will look beyond physical appearance, taking a holistic approach that considers qualities such as character, purpose, communication, leadership, preparation and contribution to society.

“The crown has no name. It depends on your holistic approach to wanting it and your preparation,” the organisation said.

At the heart of the search is what Miss NGO Namibia describes as an authentic humanitarian heart. The organisation said it is looking for young women who genuinely care about people and their communities and are willing to use the platform to create meaningful change.

“No project is too small or too big. It is about the heart behind the work,” the organisation said.

This approach reflects the Miss World 'Beauty With a Purpose' philosophy, which places social impact and humanitarian work at the centre of the competition. The 2026 festival, for example, featured 111 Beauty With a Purpose projects from national representatives, with the initiative remaining a key part of the competition.

National representative

For the current Miss NGO Namibia application cycle, applicants must be between 17 and 26 years old. The organisation said young women who have never considered themselves “pageant material” should not allow that perception to stop them from applying.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to represent Namibia at the 74th Miss World Festival in Tanzania in September 2027, combining national representation with advocacy, humanitarian work and international exposure.

Applications close on 30 September 2026.

Miss NGO Namibia, the implementing organisation and franchise holder of Miss World Namibia, operates under the Beauty With a Purpose philosophy and runs national and regional engagement programmes, school-based social impact campaigns and the annual Miss World Namibia Crowning Ceremony.

The organisation is patroned by Emma Kantema, Minister of Gender Equality and Child Welfare.
