Hango remains on for third term

Oshakati mayor Leonard Hango retained his position for another 12 months for the third time in a row after elections were held at the town on Monday. Oshakati Swapo councillor Puyeipawa Elifas retained her position as deputy mayor, while management committee members Ruusa Frans, Maria Mutumbulwa and Hofni Mutota also retained theirs.Independent Patriots for Change’s (IPC) Jerobeam Ndaamohamba and Pinehas Aluvilu will serve another year in their positions as ordinary councillors.In a speech, Hango said serving the town is an immense achievement for him. He told the gathering that the highlight of this year has been the town’s rebranding, which was officially launched on 1 September. “This is such a huge milestone for Oshakati as it allowed us to move into a better direction in terms of serving the residents of our town. By now, most of you are familiar with the new logo. The new image and logo comes as part of Oshakati’s strategic plan to enhance the image and visibility of our town. The new brand is what we are proud to be associated with,” Hango said. He further highlighted that a project to service erven in Extensions 11 and 12 in Ehenye, officially known as Oshakati North, has successfully been completed. “I urge all skilled forces in Oshakati, especially young professionals, to please grasp this opportunity of applying and acquiring land in the newly serviced extensions,” the mayor said.
