Divundu family desperate for assistance

Kenya Kambowe
An impoverished couple from Divundu in the Kavango East Region - who earlier this year welcomed triplets - are pleading for assistance from Good Samaritans in the form of food and other basic necessities for their children.

It has been a month since Namibian Sun reported on the unemployed couple from Popa village who named one of their seven-month-old triplets after President Hage Geingob.

Faustinus Nakare (36) and Eugenie Tjangano (26), who are currently surviving on their grandparents’ monthly pension grants, said the formula and nappies they have will only last a couple of days.

With nowhere left to turn, Tjangano said they hope and pray for a miracle as they are finding it difficult to provide for triplets Gotfried Geingob, Aron and Hendrina and their other two children, adding that every cent they get is for them.

“The last time you were here, I told you that the milk will only last a month. Now that month is over and we have nowhere to turn to for assistance,” she said.

“I saw the story you wrote and the video you posted on social media and the comments were showing that people were touched by our story, however, nobody has come to our aid.

“These blessings of ours are no joke when it comes to the bottle, especially Geingob. When he starts crying, the only thing that can make him stop is when he is sucking his bottle.”

Employ us

“Buying food for the house has become a challenge for us because all we think of when we get something is to make sure we buy milk for our babies,” Nakare said.

Tjangano gave birth on 5 January.

The couple said they recently received much-needed assistance from Mukwe constituency councillor Damian Maghambayi, but those supplies have since run out.

The couple said they need formula, nappies, clothes and blankets for the babies. Instead of relying on handouts, the parents added that they would appreciate to be employed to sustain their family’s livelihood.

Nakare is in possession of a grade 12 certificate and has a code 10 driver’s licence, while Tjangano is currently registered at a nursing school in Divundu. She pleaded for funding for the duration of her studies.
