N$3.2m classroom boost

Three schools in the Erongo region received six classrooms, storerooms and renovations to existing facilities through the MTC Rural Schools Project, at a combined value of N$3.2 million.Okongue in Daures, JP Brandt in Utuseb and !Oe #Gab in Tubusis each received a block of two classrooms. The official handover took place at Okongue Primary School in the Daures constituency on Tuesday. The Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund contributed N$1 million towards the classroom blocks and storerooms through its partnership with MTC.“Education is a shared responsibility. While the government provides leadership, policy direction and resources, strong partnerships with the private sector, communities and other stakeholders enable us to achieve greater impact," Erongo governor Nathalia /Goagoses said.MTC’s Tim Ekandjo said the company’s partnership with the MVA Fund had delivered 61 classrooms nationwide. “With a significant classroom shortfall across the country, we need more corporate partnerships to support the government in addressing this national challenge.”Okongue Primary School principal Jossel Hindjou said the project had addressed a serious shortage of classrooms and the absence of a staff room.“We are grateful beyond words. The impact of this project is positively changing the teaching and learning experience, especially for those of us in remote areas.”-Leandrea Mouers
