Learner (16) dies in knife fight
A 16-year-old learner was stabbed to death in Mondesa, Swakopmund, on Saturday evening after an argument with a 17-year-old turned into a fight. The suspect has been arrested.
According to a police crime report, the incident took place at about 19:00 in Si !Gobs Street, near the DRC location.
"It is alleged that the deceased and the suspect had an argument which escalated into a physical fight," the report states. "It is further alleged that during the argument, the suspect allegedly stabbed the deceased on the left side of the neck with a knife."
Municipal paramedics declared the learner dead at the scene. Police took his body to the Swakopmund State Hospital for medical certification and safekeeping.
The deceased, a Zimbabwean national, attended a school in Swakopmund. His next of kin have been informed.
The suspect, a Namibian, was expected to appear in the Swakopmund Magistrate's Court earlier this week.
A murder case has been opened. Police investigations continue.
