Coastal workshop tackles aviation safety

The Namibia Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) held a coastal aviation safety and security workshop to share knowledge, examine operational challenges and discuss ways to strengthen aviation safety and security.Representatives of the NCAA, the Namibia Airports Company (NAC) and Debmarine Namibia attended the two-day workshop in Swakopmund. The NCAA said bringing together stakeholders from different operational environments reinforced that aviation safety is a shared responsibility.“Effective oversight, timely information-sharing and informed decision-making are essential to identifying risks before they lead to incidents and to maintaining confidence in aviation operations,” the authority said.Discussions covered regulatory compliance, aircraft maintenance safety, loss of separation, operational risk management, low flying and aeronautical decision-making.Participants also dealt with search and rescue, threat and error management, loss of control in flight, and the transition from Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) to Aeronautical Information Management (AIM).The programme included Namibia’s National Aviation Safety Plan (NASP), environmental considerations and safety priorities across the industry.
