NFA to probe fans’ behaviour
The Namibia Football Association (NFA) will probe the behaviour of fans after cans were thrown onto the pitch during two Debmarine Namibia Premiership matches over the weekend.
NFA league director Mabos Vries yesterday told Namibian Sun that the association is aware of the incidents but awaits a full report before further action is taken.
“We are waiting for the reports before we can draw any conclusions in the matter.
“If we get the reports and they indicate that a certain team or fans are responsible for the throwing of objects, the rules will guide us on what action or punishment to impose,” Vries said.

The cans were first thrown during Chula Chula FC and African Stars' 1-1 draw at the Hage Geingob Stadium on Saturday.
The incident happened after the northern-based side equalised in the last minutes of the match.
This resulted in the match being paused while officials removed the objects thrown onto the football field.
A similar incident was also reported on Sunday at a match between Orlando Pirates and Chula Chula FC.
Chula Chula was leading Orlando Pirates 1-0 when Pirates were awarded a penalty.
Chula Chula's goalkeeper, however, saved the penalty, causing commotion in the stands, which resulted in another pause as cans were again thrown onto the pitch.
Review
It was not the first time that incidents of this nature have happened in the Namibian top-flight football league.
There have been several reports in the past where teams were warned for unruly behaviour during Premier League matches.
A football fan, Anthony Witbooi, who was present at the match on Saturday, has requested the football association and league administrators tighten measures.
“I think before we can crucify the excited fans, we have to urge clubs hosting home matches to tighten security.
“The selling of cans inside the stadium can probably be banned, and people must be able to buy drinks in foam cups or something,” Witbooi suggested.
