Kobus Malan has been crowned Namibia’s 2026 Champion Boerewors winner following the final of the 2026 Shoprite & Checkers Namibian Champion Boerewors Competition at Rooster & Co. on Saturday, 22 August.

The Shoprite & Checkers Namibian Champion Boerewors Competition celebrates one of Namibia’s most beloved culinary traditions, bringing together talented boerewors makers from across the country to showcase their skill, passion and proudly local flavours.

After progressing through the regional rounds and earning their places among this year’s finalists, the final contenders gathered at Rooster & Co. for the highly anticipated judging and celebration. Each finalist brought their own recipe, craftsmanship and interpretation of a proudly Namibian favourite to the final.

Following the judging, Malan emerged as the overall winner.

The new champion walks away with N$150 000 in Shoprite & Checkers vouchers in recognition of his achievement in this year’s competition.

Collin Omari placed second and received N$100 000 in Shoprite & Checkers vouchers, while Jackson Kazombiaze placed third and received vouchers valued at N$50 000.

The competition also celebrated the achievements of all the finalists, whose dedication, talent and passion made the 2026 competition a memorable celebration of Namibian flavour and culinary tradition.

Shoprite & Checkers thanked the Namibian Chefs Association, the judges and event sponsors Coca-Cola, Tafel Lager and All Gold for their support in bringing the competition to life and creating a platform that celebrates Namibian talent, food culture and community.

Namibians will soon be able to enjoy the winning flavour for themselves, with Malan’s winning recipe set to be available at Shoprite & Checkers stores nationwide from the end of September.
