First census salaries to be paid today

The Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) said, by Friday, it had already made training allowance, field staff allowance and transport allowance payments to census field staff, which include the enumerators, team supervisors and constituency supervisors. Currently outstanding payments to the more than 13 0000 census field staff complement are their actual salaries, it said, adding that this payment process involves verification.

The NSA said for both census field staff and transport service providers, it pays per region that is fully verified, with the first region's payment set to be made today.

The agency on Friday said it would aim to begin making these payments before the weekend, provided that these payment batches were successfully verified.

Meanwhile, the payment process of more than 2 700 vehicle owners entails contract verifications, reconciliation of fuel used versus the balance to be paid to the service provider, days worked as well as the verification of their banking details, it said.
