Archery: Weekend of PBs and camaraderie
The 2023 Namibia Indoor Target Archery Nationals, hosted by the Swakopmund Archery Club, took place over the weekend at the SFC Sports Grounds in the coastal town.
The competition saw nine archers from Swakopmund Archery Club take part, with Jacqueline Coetzee claiming gold in compound women with 142 ahead of silver medallist Linda-Mari Posci with 123.
Meanwhile, in the para open compound under-21 men's category, Jan Lots du Toit scored 528, while his female counterpart Katelynn Venter scored 520.
Competing in compound under-18 men, Jean Pierre Khöne earned a score of 399, while recurve women saw Quinn Reddig walking away with 537 points. In compound men, Justus Reid got a 509 score ahead of silver medallist Eugene Thuynsma's 461.
Lutz Wahlers, competing in the barebow 50 men category, earned a score of 490.
“It was a great day of archery that brought friends together. It saw Venter and I shoot personal bests (PBs). Everything went smoothly. Smiles all around!” Jacqueline Coetzee, Namibian archer and vice-president of the Archery Association of Namibia, said.
