SHORT NEWS - Protective gear row halts Rundu airport fence construction
A group of Tulinavo Investment workers constructing the Rundu Airport fence returned to the site yesterday after a planned meeting with management was reportedly called off. The site manager allegedly asked them to resume work voluntarily, despite the lack of full protective gear. Some workers remained behind, while some of those who proceeded wore slippers and tekkies.
Later in the morning, labour inspectors and police officers removed the workers from the site after finding several of them working without gloves and in slippers, which is a clear violation of safety regulations. Workers claim the labour ministry has been informed of the situation.
A Tulinavo management representative later said no meeting had been scheduled for yesterday, but confirmed that one is expected to take place today.
