Hammer murder trial postponed
News in short
A man accused of beating his wife to death with a hammer had his case postponed until 15 November in the Windhoek High Court yesterday.
Inock Nalise's trial was scheduled to begin this week, but his legal representative withdrew and his newly appointed legal aid attorney was not ready to begin.
The State has indicated that it will call only four witnesses throughout the course of the trial.
Nalise stands accused of killing his wife on 30 October 2020 in the Okahandja Park informal settlement in Windhoek.
He fled the scene, but surrendered to the police two days later.
He apparently hit his 30-year-old wife, Petra Minikonzo Nyakwambo, on the back of her head with a hammer during an argument. She died at the scene.
He faces one charge of murder, read with the provisions of the Combatting of Domestic Violence Act.
Following his arrest, Nalise was denied bail and will remain in custody until his next court appearance before judge Christie Liebenberg.
