Cop jailed for killing baby

Maria Ikela, who killed her newborn baby at Walvis Bay in 2012 before being recruited in the Namibian Police in 2014, was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment in the Swakopmund Regional Court on Monday. Her sentence was, however, reduced to seven years on condition that she is not convicted of the same crime within five years. She was further fined N$200 for concealment of birth.
