Alleged boyfriend killer remanded in custody
Olivia Kalimbo, who stands accused of murdering her boyfriend and the father of her three children Lukas Fotolela, was denied bail in the Oshakati Magistrate's Court this week.
Magistrate Siegfried Geiseb told her to return to court on 8 November for pre-trial.
Kalimbo allegedly stabbed Fotolela (48) to death with a knife. She is also on trial for attempted murder for injuring Fotolela’s brother, who tried to confront her when she disclosed her crime to him.
The incident took place at a cuca shop in Omakango village in the Ohangwena Region.
Ohangwena crime coordinator, deputy commissioner Zachariah Amakali, said the accused stabbed Fotolela twice in the chest and once in his right arm.
He succumbed to his injuries and died on the spot.
Kalimbo was denied bail due to the seriousness of the matter and because investigations are still in the preliminary stage.
The state prosecutor further argued that granting bail would not be in the interest of justice.
