GEINGOS APPLAUDS ZAMBIAN TRIBUTE:

GEINGOS APPLAUDS ZAMBIAN TRIBUTE: Former Namibian first lady Monica Geingos last week joined President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on a working visit to Zambia, during which two roads were officially renamed in honour of former presidents Sam Nujoma and Hage Geingob - Geingos' late husband.

The visit also gave Geingos a chance "to reconnect with her sister and dear friend, Mrs Mutinta Hichilema, the first lady of Zambia," according to a statement issued by Geingos.

The two discussed areas of mutual interest, exchanging ideas on youth empowerment and community development, further strengthening ties between the two nations.

"Lusaka was President Geingob’s second home. A city which shaped the leadership and statesmanship of the President Geingob we came to know. As a meeting place of African intellectuals, political luminaries and freedom fighters, President Geingob connected with Africa’s best brains, some of whom followed him to Namibia, proving that ideas and solidarity transcend borders," Geingos said.

She also extended her heartfelt gratitude to Zambian president Hakainde Hichilema for "bestowing this meaningful posthumous honour" on her late husband.

Geingos thanked Nandi-Ndaitwah for her leadership and for the invitation "to be part of this deeply significant occasion".
