Walvis extends water rationing
NEWS IN SHORT
NamWater yesterday announced that the harbour town will have to continue water rationing for a further 21 days, with restrictions extended until 29 April.
NamWater said this is due to ongoing power supply challenges at the Rooibank and Dorob South systems, where ageing infrastructure and voltage drops are limiting water extraction from the boreholes that supply the municipality.
The restrictions aim “to maintain current reservoir levels and prevent a total depletion of supply".
Water supply will be limited each night between midnight and 04:00, an improvement from the initial six-hour nightly suspensions.
