#JustIn: Prepaid metres updated in March
The municipality of Windhoek will start updating all prepaid water and electricity metres from 1 March, to ensure it continues functioning after the 2024 deadline.
This is called the Token Identifier (TID) Rollover project.
The software of all existing metres worldwide will expire on 24 November 2024. Should it not be updated before then, the metres won’t be able to receive new credit notes, which could leave clients without water or electricity.
