Volunteers help 504 Otjozondjupa patients

A 24-member volunteer medical team from Singapore, Malaysia and the United Kingdom provided specialist healthcare to more than 500 patients and performed 35 surgeries during a week-long humanitarian mission in Namibia.

The specialists volunteered their time and covered their own travel costs to participate in the outreach.

The mission, organised by Singapore's Amitofo Care Centre (ACC) and Global Clinic, saw specialists work at ACC Namibia, Otjiwarongo State Hospital and an outreach dental clinic in Otavi.

The team conducted 504 specialist consultations, including dermatology, paediatrics, gynaecology, dentistry and surgery. The surgical team carried out 35 operations, including hernia repairs and the removal of large tumours.

The delegation also donated two suction machines, an ultrasound system and a foetal monitor to Otjiwarongo State Hospital.

Beyond treating patients, the visiting specialists worked alongside Namibian healthcare workers, sharing skills and supporting local medical teams during consultations and surgical procedures.
