Workshop not a 'political rally', minister warns

Tension briefly flared at the regional and local authority councillors’ induction workshop that started in Ondangwa yesterday, when urban and rural development minister James Sankwasa ordered members of the Affirmative Repositioning (AR) party, who arrived wearing party colours, to remove their caps or leave, stressing the event was not a political rally.

AR councillor for Ondangwa, Angelina Immanuel, attempted to question the directive, but Sankwasa stood firm, warning that non-compliance would result in removal from the hall. The members eventually complied.
