President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah used the nation’s 36th Independence Day on 21 March to spotlight the government’s achievements over the past year, highlighting strides in education, youth development, infrastructure, and social services.

She noted that subsidised tertiary education has been introduced, youth programmes expanded, and continued investments are strengthening public services across the country. Despite global uncertainties, the economy is projected to grow by 3.1% in 2026, reflecting the resilience of Namibia’s development agenda.

Speaking from State House, Nandi-Ndaitwah also reflected on the nation’s hard-won freedom and paid tribute to those who sacrificed for Namibia’s liberation, including the late Founding President Sam Nujoma. She emphasised the importance of peace, unity, and democratic values as Namibia charts its path forward.

Concluding her address, Nandi-Ndaitwah called on Namibians to unite in purpose. “Our Independence Day is not only a celebration of our past, but a call to recommit ourselves to building a better future, with One Heart and One Mind,” she said.
