NamPower re-advertises MD post after limited response
NamPower has re-advertised the managing director position after receiving a limited number of applications during the initial recruitment period.
“It was resolved that the position be re-advertised to appeal to a larger talent pool given the limited number of applications received,” NamPower said in the re-advertisement notice.
The utility said applications submitted during the first round will remain valid and those candidates will not be required to reapply.
The initial application period closed on 24 July, while the re-advertised position will close on Friday, 28 August, at 16:00.
NamPower has appointed Visions Consulting to independently administer the executive recruitment process in accordance with company policy and governance principles.
Five applied
Namibian Sun reported today that at least five senior energy-sector executives applied during the initial recruitment round.
They are Cenored CEO Fessor Mbango, NamPower transmission executive Leandro Kapolo, former NamPower chief operating officer Fritz Jacobs, OPE CEO Nelson Sheya, and NamPower modified single buyer executive Kandali Iyambo.
The requirements include a relevant master’s degree in electrical engineering or an energy-related field and a master’s degree in business administration or leadership qualification. Candidates must also have at least 15 years’ practical experience in the energy, electricity supply or related industries, including at least five years at executive level.
“Preference will be given to Namibian citizens and vetting will be conducted on all shortlisted candidates,” NamPower said.
The successful candidate will take over from current managing director Simson Haulofu, whose term expires on 31 December.
