Kavango West council boosts service delivery with N$5.3m fleet

The Kavango West Regional Council has strengthened its service delivery capacity with the acquisition of a new fleet valued at N$5.3 million from Pupkewitz Toyota Rundu.

According to a statement issued last week, the purchase includes four Toyota double cab 4x4 bakkies, two Toyota Corolla sedans, and a Hino 4x4 truck. The double cabs will be allocated to the Mpungu, Mankumpi, Ncuncuni and Ncamagoro constituencies, while the sedans are destined for the council’s head office in Nkurenkuru.

Council officials described the addition as a long-overdue investment that will ease pressure on the ageing fleet, reduce costly maintenance and improve staff mobility to better serve the region’s residents.

The truck, in particular, is expected to enhance drought relief efforts, an area previously hampered by logistical challenges. The remaining four constituencies are scheduled to be catered for during the 2025/26 financial year.
