NTN comes alive with the sound of music

Michael Kayunde
The National Theatre comes alive with the soulful sounds of one of the country’s most celebrated artists tonight, when Afro-jazz and traditional singer Erna Chimu takes to the stage with 'Live in Song', together with Waters and Sagarias Tsam.

Speaking to tjil ahead of the show, Chimu said: “This concert is the culmination of years of dedication and passion for live music. It’s a moment to reflect on the journey, celebrate and look forward.”

Audiences can expect a high-energy, sensory-rich experience, with dynamic staging, visuals and Chimu’s signature blend of jazz, soul and Namibian tradition. “I want people to leave feeling inspired, energised and loved,” she said.

Chimu will be joined by her long-time bandmates: Sam Batola (guitar, vocals), Gerson Doeseb (keyboards), Manneckey Khoe-Aob (percussion), Piu Fernando (drums), Jean Pierre Ntsika (bass) and Fofa Emilio (backing vocals).

Guest performers include Sagarias Tsam, bringing “depth and rootedness” with his guitar and vocals, and R&B singer Waters, whose flair adds “signature touches” to the line-up.

Live in Song starts at 19:00 at the National Theatre of Namibia. Tickets are available via webtickets.com.na
