Namibia to host inaugural communicators conference
Conference set to arm comms experts with top-notch skills
The conference will provide tools to shore up the effective delivery of Namibia's national agenda through impactful communication, organisers say.
Namibia will host its first-ever Effective Communicators Conference from 16 to 18 July at The Dome in Swakopmund.
The event marks a milestone aimed at strengthening professional communication across all sectors.
Former South African President Thabo Mbeki is expected to attend, along with ministers, regional leaders and representatives from local authorities.
Held under the theme 'Effective Communication of the Agenda', the conference will bring together over 250 communication professionals from both the public and private sectors.
It aims to boost the capacity of people responsible for promoting and articulating the visions of government institutions, state-owned enterprises and private organisations.
“This conference offers a vital platform for skills development, strategic dialogue and collaboration,” said Jata Kazondu, acting CEO of the Namibia Press Agency and convener of the event.
“It is a timely initiative that supports the effective delivery of Namibia’s national agenda through impactful communication.”
Meaningful engagement
The programme features a distinguished line-up of local and international experts.
The event is sponsored by Swakop Uranium and Pupkewitz Toyota.
Winnie Mukupuki, deputy head of the Swakop Uranium office, said the company supports initiatives that foster meaningful public engagement.
“When government institutions, the corporate sector, and the public are aligned with national goals and aspirations, the outcome is beneficial for the entire country,” said Mukupuki.
Pupkewitz Toyota manager Jaco Barnard added: “We believe that effective communication is key to driving positive change. Supporting the Government Effective Communicators Conference aligns with our values of collaboration, transparency and building strong relationships for a better Namibia.”
Information and communication technology minister Emma Theofelus will officially open the conference.
