MultiChoice Namibia Announces Shaka Ilembe Drama Series

STAFF REPORTER
MultiChoice Namibia (MCN) yesterday launched the trailer of the epic TV drama, Shaka Ilembe, at the Black Panther 2 movie premiere.

As a sponsor of the premiere screening of Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever, MCN wanted to celebrate the art and science of movie making.

This is second installment in the Marvel film franchise that sparked a global pop culture phenomenon, and Afro-centrism the world over.

The premiere was also the occasion where MCN debuted the trailer for the highly anticipated historical series Shaka Ilembe, which is scheduled to air on MultiChoice platforms in 2023.

"As Africa’s most loved storyteller, our aim at MultiChoice Namibia is to provide Namibian consumers with the best international and African content. Fully funded by MultiChoice, Shaka Ilembe explores the world that shaped the famed African King and his journey to the throne, marrying historical authenticity with primetime drama," said Roger Gertze, MultiChoice Namibia managing director.

The result is a powerful series, that interweaves historical perspectives with elements of fiction, delivering must-watch entertainment to audiences.

Featuring an outstanding cast, and superb production standards, Shaka Ilembe speaks to the heart of MultiChoice’s ongoing commitment to the African creative arts industry.

"As the biggest funder of local content in Africa, MultiChoice has invested widely in telling great African stories. We are therefore deeply pleased that this culturally resonant story will be told through the lens of Africans for the very first time," concluded Gertze.
