Forbes was a featured speaker at the session titled 'Ahead of the Curve: Inclusive Strategies for Local Climate Adaptation and Resilience'.

Central roles

During a plenary session, Forbes emphasised the crucial role of local governments in fostering climate resilience applications and actions that reflect the reality of cities.

He highlighted the significance of bringing diverse stakeholders together in safe and inclusive spaces to foster dialogue and trust.

"Such efforts can catalyse the development of practical, adaptable and effective resilience measures," he said.

“Local governments play a central role in fostering climate resilience applications and actions that are grounded in the reality of our cities,” he added.

Strong panel

Forbes represented the regional mayors forum for the Covenant of Mayors for Sub-Saharan Africa on a distinguished panel. Alongside him were Dr Cristian Zamora, Mayor of Cuenca, Ecuador, Gabriel Souza, vice president of Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil and Ahmed Aboutaleb, mayor of Rotterdam.
