RIVER HARVEST
NEWS IN SHORT
Karangana village fishermen in the Kavango West region are reaping the benefits of the Kavango River's rising water levels.
Among them is Markus Haingura (20), who earns about N$100 a day selling fish by the roadside to support his family. Choosing fishing over city life, Haingura and others cast their lines each morning, hoping for a good catch. “This year, the water levels have risen, which helps us catch more,” he said. Despite the risks posed by crocodiles and hippos, fishing remains their lifeline.
