TIME TO CONNECT: Spreader Fishing (Pty) Ltd, a joint venture consortium comprising five Namibian fishing rights holders, donated ICT equipment valued at N$150 000 to seven state schools across the Kunene, Omusati and Ohangwena regions on Monday.

The donation includes seven sets of HP laptops, wireless mouse, Orion full HD LED projectors and Targus protective laptop bags. This contribution aims to enhance digital literacy and access to technology in underserved schools.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Silas Iipumbu, chairperson of Spreader Fishing, said: “We believe that education is the greatest equaliser. We recognise the need to equip our schools with the tools necessary to prepare students for the demands of the 21st century. We are confident that this donation will make a tangible difference in bridging the digital gap.”

The beneficiary schools were identified in collaboration with regional education directors to ensure the equipment reaches areas with the greatest need. They include Braunfels Agriculture Secondary School, Otjerunda Combined School and Musaso Combined School in the Kunene region. Oukwandongo Combined School and Oikokola Combined School in Omusati region and Oshikunde Secondary School and Sakaria Shikudule Combined School in Ohangwena region.

Deputy education minister Dino Ballotti expressed appreciation to Spreader Fishing and said: “You could have chosen any other sector for your corporate social responsibility efforts, yet you chose education and not just any schools but those that are in greater need."
