Just in: Records Restoration Facility launched at National Archives

The Records Restoration Facility at National Archives of Namibia has successfully been launched this morning. For the opening ceremony, the director responsible for archiving, Gerard Vries, represented the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture (MEAC) and Herbert Beck, the German Ambassador in Namibia, introduced the new facility, which is the result of a cooperation between Namibia and Germany. After the cutting of the ribbon, Antonette Madi and Ndamaian Hangula from the National Archives took over and showed, how old documents such as maps back from the time when Namibia was a German colony could b restored. Both countries aim to reappraise their shared history and preserve historical documents as well as make them accessible to the interested public.
