BREAKING: Namibia-Angola Ties Get Boost with Sport, Culture Agreements
The Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture, Sanet Steenkamp, signed the agreements on Monday on the sidelines of the Inaugural Session of the Namibia-Angola Binational Commission (BNC).
The first agreement, a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Sports Development, establishes a framework for joint programmes, exchanges and capacity building aimed at growing sport in both countries.
The second, a Protocol of Cooperation on Arts and Culture, renews the cultural partnership that was previously governed by the 2007 Protocol. The new protocol expands cooperation to include the shared care of cross-border monuments and common cultural heritage, including intangible cultural heritage.
According to the Ministry, the agreements reflect the close and historic ties between Namibia and Angola and are expected to strengthen people-to-people relations through sport, the arts and shared heritage.
