ADVANCING OPEN KNOWLEDGE
ADVANCING OPEN KNOWLEDGE: The education ministry last week concluded the successful hosting of the African Library and Information Associations and Institutions (AfLIA) Summit, which took place from 19 to 22 May in Windhoek, held under the theme 'Open Knowledge: Present, Future and African Realities'.
Key discussions included assessing the knowledge and use of artificial intelligence (AI) among students, lecturers and librarians and the impact of AI on educational quality. Another important presentation examined the readiness of Namibian library professionals to support open knowledge practices on climate change. Additionally, discussions focused on quality control methods in the selection of open-access resources in university libraries.
